MCKC MEMEBERSHIP MINUTES March 16, 2018 7:05-8:25 PM

Present: Theo Congdon, Annette MacNair, Sue Mendelson, Paula Titon, Carolyn Fuhrer, Kathy Duhnoski, Trina Havey, Carol Tichy, Joyce Grotton, Martha Ortman, Lisa H.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes accepted as emailed. The nominations for officers and board members is closed.  No new nominations were received.  Therefore, there will be one ballot cast at our Annual Meeting on April 13. The slate is as follows:

Treasurer’s Report: Accepted

Annual dues are due by May 1st. Payment options: Bring them to the annual meeting, April 13th. Prior to the annual meeting, mail them to Sue Mendleson PO Box 225 Washington, ME 04574.  After the annual meeting mail them to Marguerite Curtoni PO Box 532 Bar Harbor, ME 04609.  $20 for an individual membership, $25 for a family membership.

Committee Reports

Performance Events:                                                                                                                                           Obedience Trials April14-15 Tosham: Entries are looking good. Annette is working with plans for photographers, and Vendors. Vendors still welcome ($25 for one day, 40 for 2 days) People helping with set up should come on Friday the 13th from 4-6 PM                                                                                   Tracking Tests April29th: Track Layers needed (April 28 & 29)                                                       Conformation Shows:                                                                                                                                               ~Interest in having us hold handling classes: possible sites Northstar or a large garage in Lincolnville (35 x 60) Zola will check with Sue Morlan; Marisa Murray was mentioned as another possible teacher.             ~4-6 Puppy   competition on Saturday at our shows: Theo will solidify plans with AKC, Dan will identify a judge                                                                                                                                                                             ~Still Needed: a chief steward. Dan Dowling will check with Linda Dean                                                        ~Trophies Theo and Paula will contact possible donors to trophy fund                                                        ~Committee to review show expenses to establish a budget for future planning.                                       ~Motion: For A 2 day show MCKC detailed line item expense account will be established based on this year’s show.  Each sub group* will submit a detailed accounting of costs and income which will be a baseline for future planning. (*subgroups: tentative list: Trophies, Tents, Campers, Fairgrounds, Vendors, Advertising, Rau, Judges (contracts, travel, hotels, hospitality) Insurance, equipment maintenance, trash pickup.)                                                                                                                                  ~For this year in order to encourage vendors, it was a general consensus we should keep prices low (25/day; 40 for weekend) no fee for nonprofits.  (added fee for those needing electricity?)

Brainstorming for the future:

~Ideas for fundraisers for conformation shows: [1] Dog book sale, [2] a calendar perhaps a weekly calendar, people buy a page for their choice of photos, business ads also included   [3] a “bark in the park” event  [4] Handling classes    [5] microchip or other medical clinics                                                                                                                                               ~Needed: a long term plan for advertising for our catalogues and vendors: Trina will work on this
